I just love educating about these beautiful oils introducing simple swaps into my customers homes.
When I first started making changes in my home I thought it would be hard and I honestly didn’t think I would stick at it. My daughter was constantly sick and had multiple allergies and intolerances to food, chemicals, body products, soap - you name it, she couldn’t have it.
We finally got the food under control after 5 years of testing, trying different things and going crazy wondering every time she ate which ingredient was causing the flare up this time.
Now I have removed toxins and chemicals from most of our food and home. I no longer clean with hideous old domestos: in fact, I don’t even venture down the cleaning aisle at all anymore. It doesn’t mean I don’t clean (I wish). I just use natural ingredients and make my own products and no, I promise you, it is not hard at all.
It is seriously as easy as making a cup of coffee! Trust me on this one, if it was complicated or time consuming I wouldn’t do it.
I now clean with very basic ingredients and essential oils and it works just as well if not better!
Do you have the following at home in the cupboard already?
Castille Soap ( I use Dr Bronners but there are lots of brands to choose from. You can purchase online or from your local health food store)
Fractionated Coconut Oil ( I recommend doTERRA or you can also purchase at the supermarket)
Then all you need to add is Lemon 🍋 or Wild Orange 🍊 doTERRA essential oil and you can replace so many products, including but not limited to:
DIY surface spray using vinegar and oils
DIY oven cleaner
DIY hand and body wash ( you can choose your scent and get creative blending your favourites together). I omit the vegetable glycerine and it works just fine.
You will also need the following items to store your amazingness in:
a glass spray bottle with a good quality spray nozzle ( the vinegar will destroy cheap ones!)
foaming pump bottle for the hand and body wash. You can reuse the Thank You brand bottles or buy new ones from our favourite suppliers.
reuse an old glass jar to store the soft scrub cleaning paste
If you can’t find the above items locally you will find all the info on where to source them in a previous blog post . Once you have these items you can reuse them again and again. Making your own cleaning products is much cheaper than buying pre made and (here is the big one) you know every single ingredient that has gone into them. Every. Single. Ingredient. You might be surprise by just how few ingredients you need.
When using glass and plastic bottles please make sure it is dark amber. Essential oils are very sensitive to sun and will expire much more quickly if exposed for period of time. Pure essential oils are very strong and will react to some plastics. Typically, HDPE plastic as well as plastics number 1 (PETE) and 2 are safe for use with essential oils.
Don’t be scared, these products really do work and smell amazing at the same time! Clean your home naturally and enjoy the difference. I can still breath in my home after cleaning and I can put my kids in the bath after cleaning it knowing my daughter won’t break out in eczema from the cleaning products (no matter how many times I rinsed it)
If you do not already have your own doTERRA wholesale account to purchase your essential oils I would love to help you set one up. I will provide lots of support and education to help you use your oils safely and efficiently. For more info click here
